Helga Asquith Schroeter was born in Germany. In 1966, her family moved to Schenectady, NY. Her four children all graduated from Linton High School between 1986 and 1991.
Helga worked for the Fund for Modern Courts, a state-wide court reform advocacy organization. In her position, she planned forums on various court issues, supervised court monitoring projects, and advocated for the organization’s reform proposals in the state legislature. She retired in 2004 and now serves on the board of directors of the Committee for Modern Courts.
Helga has had many community involvements. She is a former Human Rights Commissioner, a former President of Girls Inc., the League of Women Voters, Living Resources Home Care Agency and a member of various other community organizations. She is a trained facilitator for “Schenectady County Embraces Diversity”, a Study Circles project. In addition, she currently serves on the Civilian Police Review Board.
