Diane Allegro is a National Board Certified Career and Technical Education Teacher and has been teaching Business Education at Schenectady High School since 2003 with one year as an Instructional Technology Specialist for the District. She is the Director of the SCSD Teacher Center and conducts numerous technology related professional development for teachers and support staff. Since 2008, she has been the liaison for the First NY Federal Credit Union’s Patriot Branch at SHS. She worked with the credit union to bring student run banking to the high school. Prior to becoming an educator, Diane spent over 20 years in the financial services industry as a retail banking executive. Her education includes a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics, M.B.A. in Business Administration, M.S. in Secondary Education.
Diane was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent the first 40 years of her life living and working in the New York City area. She also lived in Rochester and Buffalo and came to Schenectady to work at the High School. She wanted to work in an urban school district where she knew she could relate her own experiences to many of the student’s own lives. She strives to form connections with students and is passionate about instilling critical financial literacy skills to prepare them for the real world.
Diane has been involved in many current and past community activities including Junior Achievements, Captain Youth and Family Services – Income Tax Assistance program, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Habitat for Humanity, Amherst Chamber of Commerce – Board, National Council for Community and Justice (NCCJ) – Board.
